Hey there Sud Lovers,
Soap is the topic of conversation today…a little history and how our all natural handmade soap with a cheeky twist is made here at Explicit Body Care.
We like to do our soap the tradition way but put a cheeky twist on things with our packaging.
My soapy journey started many years back with a good old-fashioned recipe that I found…so off I went on my sudsy journey to discover the joy of soap making! What a love this has become to create something from natural ingredients and then use it daily in the shower and get the gorgeous moisturising skin and aromatherapy benefits -pure bliss to end or start your day your day!
How was soap discovered?- Sapo Latin for soap takes its name from the ancient Roman times.
No one knows for sure when soap was first invented, although it appears to have been around since the dawn of civilization. One of the reasons it’s so hard to pin down soap’s first appearance is that it can be made with a few, simple ingredients; in fact, just an alkali mixed with fat or oil can make soap.
Although there is no proof of it, an old Roman wives’ tale says that women who lived near Mount Sapo, where animals were sacrificed, discovered soap when rain washed a combination of wood ashes and animal fat (tallow) into the clay soil by the Tiber River where they were doing laundry. The women found this mixture made their wash much cleaner without much effort.
What is cold process soap?
Cold Process soapmaking is the act of mixing oils (common oils include Olive and Coconut) with an alkali (Lye). The result is a chemical process called saponification, where the composition of the oils changes with the help of the lye to create a bar of natural handmade soap.
What is soap? As far as we are concerned soap is magic!
We make our soap at Explicit Body Care using this same traditional method of mixing oils and an alkali, colouring, adding additional skin loving ingredients and fragrancing with oils to create our gorgeous natural soap bars. We use glorious skin loving oils of olive, coconut, sunflower and rice bran to produce our gorgeous hard longlasting bars. Check out our cheeky natural handmade soap here you won’t be disappointed.
Why should your showering be boring when you’re not!
Suds up everyone – enjoy your week!’
